River Conditions - Canoeing in Missouri

Recent rains are keeping the Huzzah's waterflow up. Summer is winding down so keep that river trip that you promised yourself and come on down. Our water temp is perfect for tubing rafting canoeing and kayaking.  Of course some new channels are being made and along with that are some new downed trees so be aware.  Some good gear tips are good river shoes, suntan lotion, food, beverages, and extra dry clothes.  Get out of the house and  Get out on the river! Be adventurous take a kayak. Most rivers take forever to clear up but the huzzah clears up the fastest.  Try a raft trip while the water is up plus they don't flip over.

Fishing Conditions: Topwater and jig fishing have been best.  The bass are in swift shaded rocks and logs. The fish are now grouping up and if you hook one be looking for others swimming along with it as you reel it in.  Enjoy the surroundings wildlife, bluffs, flowering trees, refreshing crisp air and solitude. That's what a float trip is really all about memories and peace of mind.  A perfect mindless activity is to take a float trip away from cell phones, busy highways, so treat yourself.

Be looking for the channel in the river that has the most water in it and keep looking ahead for downed tress that you may have to drag around. A good way to tell a channel with the most water is to look at the V the water makes at the begining of a riffle and take your craft down the middle of the V.  Enjoy!!!!!!
