River Conditions

Last update 11:30a.m. May 12, 2008

Notice: 48 hour advance notice on any reservations for this time of year is needed. (A)The flood on march 18 was a big one and we did recover.
This spring and summer floating season outlook is great with all the recent rain. Call our 800 367 4516 number before comming down if river levels are in question.

Note: The Red bud amd Dogwood tree blooms viewing is a wonderful time to be on the Huzzah so be sure you have a camera to catch those awesome shots.

Thru the week float upstream departure to be put in is on the hour. Weekends is every halfhour departure. If start at the resort and float down our pickups are scheduled by every hour.

Recommended trips in canoes and kayaks are from Harpers Slab to Huzzah Valley. Dry Creek that enters the Huzzah at the resort is running a steady flow of spring water. The length of floats are the 12, 6, 3 mile,or the campground float of 2 miles.
Recent comments from our floaters are that the water is awesome. The Huzzah is gin clear and that the effort it takes to paddle down the river is a perfect mindless activity.

Floating Conditions

Our 3 mile upstream trip back to your car is popular this time of year. 4MAN, 6man,10 man and 8 man rafts are starting at the upper 3 miles back to your car at Huzzah Valley. Some smaller groups with 4mans and 6mans have been floating from Huzzah Valley to Scotia trip. The water temperature is changing and so will the amount of time it take people to float the different trips.

Fishing Conditions.

If the river stablizes and the water temp. hits 62 degrees the smallmouth will begin to spawn. If you do catch smallmouth this time of year try not to fight the fish alot and also don't float or drift out of this fish's spawning area. Release them as quick as you can so the predatory fish won't rob the bed full of baby bass. Enjoy the surroundings wildlife, bluffs, flowering trees, refreshing crisp air, solitude, that's what trip is really about memories and peace of mind.
